summer road trip guide: new england itinerary

Get in! We’re taking a trip. There’s no better time for a good old fashioned road trip than during the summer, so we’re leaving the west coast and heading to the east coast. First stop…New England, land of the coffee milk, lobster rolls, and Del’s lemonade. Get ready to eat lots of seafood and fight lots of sharks.

Stop No. 1: Ogunquit Beach, Maine

Let’s start off in Northern New England. We’ll be keeping this road trip on the coast because you really only get three gorgeous months a year to enjoy the beautiful beaches that New England has to offer. One of those being Ogunquit Beach in Maine. There are miles on miles of soft white sand perfect for beach walks, Spikeball, or burying your friend in the sand. While you’re up there, you’ll have to taste a world-renowned Maine lobster - try Barnacle Billy’s for a lobster roll.

Stop No. 2: Stowe, Vermont

While we’d like to keep this trip coastal, it’s hard to resist Stowe, Vermont - stop number two on our road trip. The mountain peaks are typically covered in skiers and boarders, but during the month of July, they make for the perfect hiking adventure. Mount Mansfield has the highest peak in Vermont - make sure to give yourself a pat on the back (and some cbd!) after completing that hike. The views will be totally worth it though. On the way to your next destination, stop at Stowe Maple Products for some out-of-this-world maple syrup. DM us on the ‘gram if you want to know the best cocktail recipe using this fresh maple syrup.

Stop No. 3: Portsmouth, New Hampshire

Back to the beach! You’ll be totally charmed by this little beach town. Farmers markets and cute coffee shops or a booze cruise - pick your vibe. The plus of seeing Portsmouth by boat is getting to tour the Isles of Shoals, a worthwhile adventure.

Stop No. 4: Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts

Massachusetts has a lot to offer in the summer between MV, ACK, Boston, and Cape Cod. It’s pretty easy to get your New England fix by just visiting this one state. Since this road trip is only visiting one place in each state, we had to go with MV. From the picturesque bluffs to the Gay Head Lighthouse, you’ll be leaving island time feeling so relaxed.

Stop No. 5: Newport, Rhode Island

The smallest state in the country does have some hidden gems and we’re ready to share them. While Watch Hill, Block Island, and Little Compton were high on the list, nothing beats Newport. Downtown Newport is always bustling with energy and it’s totally okay if you go straight to the bar with your bathing suit still on. You can’t visit without sitting on the lawn at Castle Hill Inn, drinking a mudslide at O’Brien’s Pub, and doing the Cliff Walk.

Stop No. 6: Stonington, Connecticut

Last, but certainly not least, Stonington, another quaint beach town…are you starting to sense a theme to this road trip?? Stonington has gorgeous beach views and you’ll just want to walk around everywhere with your shoes off. Lay low at Saltwater Farm Vineyard or if vino isn’t your thing head to Beer’d Brewing Company.

Make sure to send us a postcard from your New England summer road trip. If you didn’t already know, our cbd vapes make a great travel buddy. Have a summer road trip idea for us? Send us a DM @thebreezebrand.
